This support is vital for many families' survival, though it is insufficient to lift them out of poverty.
Some estimates reckon one in four white South Africans can be considered poor.
Approximately 25% of white South Africans earn less than R1500,- pm which is the poverty line.
As at 2016, Solidarity mentioned that poverty increased at about 1505 in the preceding years.
Most of the poverty in Pretoria was caused by closure of large factories like YSCOR and the military-based industries.
